Mark Patnode received his Bachelor of Fine Arts from Purchase College and is a Fellow of Urban Artists Initiative, Hartford, CT, funded by the National Endowment for the Arts and Connecticut State Office of the Arts (COA).
Listed in Who’s Who in American Art, Patnode’s work has been featured in numerous museums and galleries and his work is in the Smithsonian Institution Permanent Collection. Patnode was selected by Senator Joseph Lieberman as Connecticut’s Designated Artist for the 2008 White House Christmas Tree and in 2010 Patnode was selected by Governor M. Jodi Rell to create a painting of the Charter Oak for Connecticut’s 375th Anniversary.
A Silver Rose recipient from Bulgaria’s Preeminent Poet, Lyubomir Levchev, Patnode was sponsored by the Griffis & Orpheus Foundations for a summer 2006 Artist Residency in Bulgaria.
Juried into COA Directory of Performing and Teaching Artists, a reflection of excellence in both artistry and teaching, Patnode conducts Teacher Artist Collaborations (TACs) and mentoring through Higher Order Thinking (HOT) Schools.
Patnode is an Elected Member of Salmagundi Club, Mystic Museum of Art, Norwich Arts Center, served on the Connecticut State Arts Council, serves on the Executive Board of Directors - Purchase College Alumni Association, Inc., and New London Rotary Board.
