In middle-school and high-school, Jason Fifield honed his eyes and ears as a musician, making 4-track cassette recordings and performing in the school jazz band. Making his first camera out of an oatmeal box, he went on to study film photography, building his own darkroom in the bathroom of his parent’s house. He continued refining his skills, later graduating magna cum laude from the University of Southern Maine with a bachelor’s degree in geography and anthropology and a minor in music. In 1998 he founded his own audio and video production company Slife Productions. Since then he has been working with individuals, corporations and non-profits, helping them deliver their message through compelling story-based video. He has an ability to develop a natural rapport with people from a variety of cultural and socio-economic backgrounds. His clients include CBS, Mercedes-Benz USA, PNC Bank, The Triumph Group and the Papal Foundation. He produced a video highlighting a Veteran’s Rehabilitation Facility in California, and worked with VCA Animal Hospitals to produce a series of shorts on pet diabetes featuring animated talking pets. In addition to the educational, corporate and non-profit sectors, Slife Productions has produced video and audio for Philadelphia area musicians, artists and dancers, including Kennedy Center honoree Trudy Pitts, and Pew Fellow Venissa Santi and Grammy nominee Orrin Evans. In 2013 the Jazz Journalists Association awarded him with ‘Short Form Jazz Video of the Year.’ He resides in Philadelphia with his wife and three children and loves his job. He currently is on the Graduate music faculty at the University of the Arts in Philadelphia.
