1.) The Ronin we rented from him was non-functional upon delivery. The equipment was returned immediately, but no refund was given.

2.) Honestly the minor rental rate loss is a very small issue and I don't even care. The real cost was the wasted time that this caused. Production is still dealing with the aftermath.

To elaborate --- the Ronin would not do the usual auto horizon function (or anything) when turned on. It would not connect to the app via bluetooth. It would not connect to the software directly with USB to laptop. The motors were quiet/silent/not working when battery was attached and turned on. We tried all of the included batteries...all the same issue. There were also several missing parts. I have a Ronin of my own and mine came with two kinds of baseplate and a little felt sack of parts, screws, etc... This Ronin had just one baseplate, and one single screw for it, but we had to look for it because it was just rattling around loose in the main case.

There were about 10 people there, standing around, watching, hoping, and waiting while my AC's and I called Ezra, and tried to get the thing to even turn on. It reminded me of that scene in Blackhawk Down when the soldier's leg is bleeding and the medic is trying his best to do everything he can to fix him up...or call a medivac...to no avail.

Anyway, the entire shoot was based on using a gimbal for a certain set of shots, so the non-functioning equipment shut us down and cost the producers a few thousand dollars of the budget plus the lost time...we are still trying to make up for that lost day and figure out a new storyline for the video. Unfortunately we could not reschedule the shoot because the band immediately went out of town on tour after the fiasco.

Disappointed, but left without a choice, we returned the gear to Ezra immediately the same night within a couple hours of picking it up and he still got his rental fee. To be clear, I personally felt this was not Ezra's fault, as according to him it was "fine" before we got it...and I get that sometimes unexpected things happen with gear... Honestly, I had already chalked the whole thing up to bad luck, but Ezra decided, now weeks later, to leave me a negative review on here. I now feel the need to explain what happened in detail, since everyone else I've rented from on here has been a really cool and all good experiences. I've only rented in LA though, and this shoot was in Nashville.
