Nicole L. Thompson is a filmmaker born and raised in Newark, New Jersey. From a young age she developed a passion for television and filmmaking. In 2007 she began working as camera operator for The Homework Hotline Show, which airs live on Cablevision. After working there for three years, she served as a technical director and camera operator on The Mic It Up Show, which is a live performance show for high school students in Newark, NJ. In the summer of 2008 and 2009 she taught video production with the Write on Sports and Express Yourself camps in Newark, NJ.

She then received her Bachelor of Arts from The College of New Jersey where she majored in Communications Studies with a concentration in Radio/TV/Film. She also studied filmmaking at Northumbria University in Newcastle Upon Tyne, England. While in England she worked on an independent documentary, Working For A Change as an editor and cinematographer. Following this she directed and edited an independent documentary in Nicaragua titled, One Dreams it Great. When she returned she then went on to work on The Ed Show, for NBCUniversal as a production assistant. She most recently worked as a post production assistant on CNN's 8 hour docu-series Chicagoland, produced by Brickcity TV LLC. Nicole has also worked as a set photographer on Doug Spearman's feature film Welcome, Sinners. The most recent documentary she worked on, This Trenton Life, she served as an editor, associate producer, and cinematographer. This film was just recently screened in the Salubrious Justice Film Festival.
