The Panasonic AU-EVA1 Compact 5.7K Super 35mm Cinema Camera is a flexible camera system ready for documentary, cinema, and live event production. The 5.7K sensor is used to super-sample internal recordings, resulting in higher resolving images with less noise and artifacting when compared to non-super-sampled recordings. The standard native ISO is 800, which works for most production situations. With the Dual Native ISO, this can be switched to 2500 when working in dim scenarios.

We've assembled this cine package for how we like to kit the EVA for narrative shoots. This package should work well whether you have an AC or not.
Package notes:
- The follow focus can be requested as single-sided or double-sided
- AC7 can be used as an AC monitor or director's monitor (can be battery powered or rig powered)
- We like to power everything on the rig via a single gold mount battery, but we've included small batteries for handheld or gimbal work
- Both monitors share 4x LP-E6 batteries if you want to untether those; a dual charger is included for that. Both monitors share a single AC adapter and a single DC cigarette lighter adapter, however each monitor has a dedicated d-tap/p-tap power adapter
- Package comes packed in three pieces: large Cinebag, tote bag and a tripod shoulder sling bag. You'll be most comfortable transporting in a car/van, even with two people.
EVA1 is a S35 newcomer in the likes of a Canon C300Mk2 or Sony FS7Mk2 but with better image quality and lighter weight. We use EVA primarily for narrative short films but it's extremely well suited for documentary style shooting as well. We also offer the camera a la carte or in a doc package. As always, we're happy to field questions about the camera or this rental specifically :)

FAQ:
Q: Can I shoot with PL glass?
A: Not currently, but we're considering offering a PL mount option. Write us to let us know that you'd be interested as well :) We currently shoot primarily Nikon glass with dumb lens mount adapters but there is a ton of EF glass for cine purposes as well. Check out our 4 lens prime set for a fast, lightweight option.
Q: Can I shoot Raw?
A: Yes, you can record 5.7K ProRes Raw up to 30fps or cropped 4K cDNG or ProRes Raw up to 60fps, but you'll need an external recorder (Atomos Shogun Inferno or Sumo19 via SDI). Drop us a line and let us know that you'd be interested in recording RAW and we'll consider adding one to this kit.
Q: Can I record externally?
A: Yes, though we don't offer an external recorder at this time. Even with both monitors and wiring everything as SDI, you should be golden as both monitors have SDI passthrough. The 502 also offers signal cross conversion.
Q: Is it nice to color grade?
A: While subjective, most reviewers and users agree that EVA is one of the nicest looking images with a single log transforming LUT applied. From there, it's a pretty pliable image and if nothing else won't be more difficult to grade than similar cameras.
Q: Can I sync Timecode?
A: Yes, in both directions. We've only used it attached to a T/C generator, so can't speak to T/C drift.
Q: Do you have a _____ for EVA?
A: We probably do. If you can't find it listed in the doc or cine packages, ask us.
Q: Is this the best low-light camera in its class?
A: An incredibly adequate low-light camera, it's not "the best". Many EVA owners and reviewers wouldn't want to shoot higher than 5000 ISO, especially if you're not planning to reduce noise in post. That being said, the image being sharper to start leaves some room to reduce noise and maintain incredible IQ.
Q: With this kit can I shoot all day (12 hours) without charging or transferring?
A: Yes. If powering a single monitor and camera, you can just barely make it through the day on 2x 90s. We include a fast quad charger, a heavier Hytron 140 and smaller camera batteries in case you need them. Media wise, you can capture 4hr 30min which should be more than double any reasonably scheduled day.
