I like to use these to soften features and take that "video" edge of the look. Its as if you lowered the sharpness in camera but didn't lose any of the clarity. Its a good filter for a beauty shot or close up. I generally don't use these on wide shots.

*NOTE*

Remember, use the more dense filters on wides and the less dense on your telephoto focal lengths. (if you are trying to keep the look similar across lens changes) Also, you will not get any flares on the lens with these filters.
