I have a passion for all facets of my work and my intention is to consistently surpass what I created the day before. With that focus, each moment becomes an opportunity, whether it involves filming, editing, playing or recording music, or scuba diving, to demonstrate all the ways my professional skills continue to evolve, to grow in depth and breadth, as a reflection of my personal evolution.
I have the ability to be both a team player and a solo artist or technician. However, as something of a perfectionist and an advocate of more inclusive joint ventures, I value quality over quantity, I value the expanded vision that can arise from cooperation versus singular action.
I bring a unique approach to my work because I didn't start my career working in film and graphic design. I started in a kitchen, having graduated with a degree in culinary arts simultaneous with graduating from high school. I had diverse jobs in the industry, preparing recipes indigenous to the British Isles as well as learning the techniques behind the innovative Pacific Northwest fusion cuisine of a master chef in Seattle. While I eventually discovered that my professional passions lay in another direction, the discipline and the push for continual innovation, as well as the importance of speed, precision, and quality to a chef in the high-end restaurant business, all informed my approach to working in my subsequent media of film and graphic design.
With a nod to that past, I now invoke "mise en place," a culinary term that refers to "everything in its place," in every project I undertake. The premise is that preparation is key to ensure goals are accomplished in a timely manner. My work is fast and effective because I've leaned that comprehensive preparation is a primary component of a successful outcome.
I look forward to our collaboration, to helping you discover and reveal your unique professional vision.
