While we can't actually give you a third hand, the Boomhanger gets pretty darn close.

Made from heavy-duty plastic, the Boomhanger clips to the straps of your sound bag to give you a convenient place to mount your boom pole and control it with only one arm. Even fully extended, the Boomhanger keeps the boom mic steady while you use your free hand to mix. And even if you aren't mixing, the Boomhanger can attach to almost any camera shoulder strap to offer additional comfort and control for boom operators. Between takes, rest the boom pole in the Boomhanger to give your arms a rest without having to collapse and re-extend the boom pole when the next take is up.

The Boomhanger comes with a quick link for attaching to vertical straps or hooks, as well as a piece of adhesive felt, which can be applied to the Boomhanger when desired.
