This is an incredibly versatile lens — perfect as a "walkaround", with a focal length that lends itself equally well to wide angle (landscape / architecture / etc) as to medium telephoto applications (portraits, concert photography, etc). A constant ƒ/2.8 aperture helps to ensure reliably sharp images even in low lighting.
