This professional grade lens, referred to as "The Prince of Bokeh" by Ken Rockwell, is one of the most superb portrait lenses ever made by Nikon. With Defocus Control to add to the bokeh on wide open shots, it's a professional grade lens with incredible optics. From Ken Rockwell: "The Nikon AF 105mm f/2 DC is one of Nikon's very best lenses. Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 50mm f/1.8G Lens

This unassuming lens is the best budget choice for a D3 or D700, much better than any zoom, to get you the fast autofocus, great low-light performance and the sharpness for which you bought a D3 or D700 in the first place. I love this lens because it's lightweight, fast, and sharp as a tack, especially around f2.8-4. It has a minimum focus distance of about 1 FT, and takes AMAZING up close portraits with natural light or flash. Great eye catchlights and full frame images, with no distortion.
