I had few problems with this rental.

Three stars for person who rented the equipment for bad choose of the crew. And one star for cocky unexperienced DP.

First, when crew returned Kino's they brought them without plastic cover that I gave them. Those two thick plastic bags were my dust covers for the units.

Second problem was fact that one of two extension cords were missing. I understand that mistakes are happening on the sets and I gave them option to replace cable with any out door extension cord from Home Depot. I don't need cable with Kino Flo name on it but pretty soon we came to situation "your word against mine". I decided to drop and purchase missing extension myself.

After unresolved issue with extension cord DP also mention that Kino's were requested with daylight bulbs. In the original correspondence we didn't talk about color of the bulbs or spares, which I agree is partly my mistake. I should specify that but DP or producer could also ask because I do have daylight spares.

Final drop was complain about allegedly flickering bulb on one of the units.
Person who returned lights told us that "everything was perfect". Interestingly enough DP who eventually complained Mr. Alex W. didn't mention that for the whole length of the rental. Now after we encountered communication problems they start to complain about equipment malfunction, very childish...

P.S. I used units week before and I did the test run tonight and everything is ok. Older and newer Kino flo ballasts are usually flicker free, tested up to 150fps. If there was a flicker on filming location or in his view finder this DP might have a problem with power on the set and/or his shutter speed.
