In this course, students will learn the fundamentals of producing a feature film in New York City for $250,000. Over four classes, students will explore the core concepts necessary to successfully manage and lead a film production of this size from concept to distribution.
Each class focuses on a different stage in the path of a feature film. The curriculum includes Pre-Production (budgeting, scheduling, fundraising, unions, insurance, legal), Production (crew, shooting schedule, accounting, equipment, locations), Post-Production (editorial, sound, color correction, test screenings), and Distribution (festivals, domestic market, foreign market, screeners, financials, legal).
What students will learn:
-Pre-Production (budgeting, scheduling, fundraising, unions, insurance, legal)
-Production (crew, shooting schedule, accounting, equipment, locations)
-Post-Production (editorial, sound, color correction, test screenings)
-Distribution (festivals, domestic market, foreign market, screeners, financials, legal).
Digital handouts will be emailed before each session for use during class. Students are expected to bring their own copies of each session’s material.
