The 18-35mm f/1.8 DC HSM Art lens is designed for APS-C-format cameras and provides a 28.8-56mm equivalent focal length range, covering wide-angle to normal perspectives. Its truly fast f/1.8 constant maximum aperture affords enhanced low-light performance throughout the zoom range, as well as greater control over depth of field for selective focus techniques. The optical design incorporates four aspherical elements and five Special Low Dispersion elements to minimize both chromatic and spherical aberrations, and a Super Multi-Layer Coating has also been applied to reduce ghosting and lens flare. Benefitting the optical assets, this lens also features a Hyper Sonic Motor to ensure quick, quiet, and accurate autofocus performance.
Extending the overall reach, the 50-100mm f/1.8 DC HSM is dedicated to APS-C-format cameras and provides an 80-160mm equivalent focal length range. The constant f/1.8 maximum aperture again contributes to extensive control over depth of field and also benefits handheld shooting in difficult lighting conditions. A range of low dispersion and high refractive index elements are incorporated into the sophisticated optical design, which serve to correct chromatic aberrations and distortions throughout the zoom range for increased clarity and color fidelity. A Super Multi-Layer Coating has also been applied, and a Hyper Sonic Motor is used again to deliver fast, near-silent focusing quality.
