What is the Cine-Mod modification?
Cione-Mod is a process developed by Duclos Lenses that improves still photo lenses in several ways, making them more useable for motion picture applications. Consisting of three primary parts - A seamless 32-pitch (0.8 module) focus gear, an standardized front ring, and a de-clicked, damped aperture movement.
CONTRAST: Leica R series lenses tend to be less contrasty than Zeiss or Cooke lenses, giving it a softer look.
WARM AND CREAMY: these lenses have a creamy look to them. Their signature "vintage" look has made them the go to lens for Dp's like Shane Hurlbut ASC . Giving the extra detail and sharpness of modern cinema cameras, this characteristic is what really makes this lenses a gem compared to the others.
BOKEH: The Leica lenses all have stop-sign shaped bokeh due to the 6-blade iris.
The lenses come with a Pellican case and a set of 4x4 Black Diffusion Fx, that is the vintage version of Black promist, and a 4x4 Polarizer.
Check out a lens comparison that Shane and his team shot.
