Brooklyn
Intermediate
Learn how to confidently use the Arri and Red Digital Cinema cameras in the field. These cameras are amazing machines but incredibly complex and can certainly be intimidating. This workshop will help you break through the trepidation and turn these cameras into your trusted tools.
You’ll walk out with a strong sense of confidence around how to use these cameras, what their strong suits are for operating and cinematography, and why to choose them over other options.
With 30 features, 35 documentaries and dozens of commercials and tv shows under his belt, Luke will share his deep insight and experience with these cameras.
What students will learn
-Hands-on experience with Arri Alexa/Amira as well as the Red Weapon/Dragon/Epic.
-We will build the camera in hand-held, studio, and moving camera configurations optimized for Movi, steadicam, drones, sliders, jibs and cranes.
-We cover the complex menu systems of each camera, line by line, going through what you need to know and what you don’t, so you can record with confidence and achieve fluidity on-set.
-We’ll talk resolution, frame rates, aspect ratios, compression, color space, LOG and LUTS.
Time for answering specific questions and scenarios will be allotted.
No prior knowledge of high-end camera necessary, but some experience with digital cinema or digital photography will be helpful.
